BABE RUTH & GEHRIG SIGNED 1927 YANKEES BALL JSA PSA/DNA JSA Certification #B82505 PSA/DNA Certification #J86681 Many teams have dominated their respective leagues over the course of baseball history, but few have been able to totally demoralize their competition like the Yankees did in 1927. Their lineup, appropriately dubbed "Murderer's Row," featured five .300 hitters. Among their ranks were the league leaders in virtually every offensive category. As a team, the Bronx Bombers totaled over 100 more home runs than any other team and posted league highs with a .307 batting average and an amazing .489 slugging percentage. Their sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1927 World Series represented the culmination of the most prolific season played by any team in baseball history. Originating during that historic series, this OAL (Ban Johnson) ball presents a combination of signatures that were almost certainly obtained during the World Series at Yankee Stadium on October 7th of 1927. There are 4 sigs on this ball Ruth, Gehrig, Herb Pennock and umpire Dick Nalin. The facts are as listed. Dick Nalin was an umpire for 17 years in the American league. He knew the significance of the '27 Yanks and the History of the Game. His 4 World series he umpired were 1919 Blacksox, 1923 opening of Yankee Stadium, 1927 Murders Row and the 1932 Called Shot. It is likely he obtained this ball and sigs. The ball itself is in good to vg condition with light soiling and wear consisted with game use. Ruth signed over a scuff on the Sweet spot which you do not see often. The ball is dated to 1927 only, by Jimmy Spence. You can also see the similarities in the signatures to the other '27 Yankee ball I have on ebay, signed 2 - 4 days earlier. Game 3 was a stage for Herb Pennock who is seen on balls much less than Ruth and Gehrig as he won game 3 8-1. The ball's type, usage characteristics, and combination of signatures lend a high probability that it was actually used in a Series game. Signatures range from 1/10 to 6/10. This is a one-of-a-kind artifact from the absolute pinnacle of Yankee dominance. Full LOA by PSA/DNA and JSA
